What can I do if the map displayed on SpecConnect is incorrect or out-dated?

SpecConnect uses Google Maps which tend to be quite reliably accurate in most areas, but sometimes these maps are misaligned or become somewhat out-of-date and don’t correctly reflect “conditions on the ground”. If you do notice a problem with the map displayed for your course or field on SpecConnect, you can easily report this issue to Google for future remediation. Just follow this step-by-step procedure:

Go to the FieldScout Viewer on SpecConnect and display a session that includes the map area where you are currently noticing some sort of issue. At the bottom-right corner, click on the link that says “Report a map error”.

This will launch a page the includes a number of options for you to report a problem with the map:

In most case you will probably want to select the “Your opinions about Maps” option which pops-up another dialog:

Select “Report an issue” which displays a form that will allow you to describe your issue.

Provide a detailed description of your issue and click “Next”. At this point you may be presented with some helpful article links and an option to include a screenshot. Once you are happy with your report, just click “Send” to submit your report back to Google.

That’s it!
